SAKKARA LANGUAGE SCHOOL– AMERICAN DIVISION
Sakkara Language School in Maadi has been offering the American High School Diploma for high school students starting grade 10 since the year 2013. Our students have made us very proud with their outstanding academic achievements and University acceptance rates all over the globe.
The system is based on credits hours.
Policy for Granting Academic Credits:
Academic credit is assigned to a core subject based on the total completed hours of instruction. Full credit is assigned to core subjects when a minimum of 130 hours of instruction time has been appointed over the course of the academic year. The designed course of academic studies in the school enables students to apply for entrance into all university faculties.
Sakkara’s American Division follows the common core standards in regards to the curriculum.
At the end of grade 12 the students will receive an American High school Diploma transcript and a Graduation Certificate.
American System Requirements:
* Students are required to complete three years in the American system to be accepted in university.
*Students are required to attend 4 quarter exams throughout the academic year from grade 10 to grade 12.
* Students in Grade 10 and 11 must take Arabic, religion, history, geography, and civics exams according to the ministry of education curriculum. These exams do not count in the final GPA.
* Students in Grade 12 must take (Thanaweya Amma) Arabic, religion, and civics according to the ministry of education curriculum unless they are exempted.
Subject Grading Policies:
The overall student assessment and mark distribution is shown in the chart below. Each student is given a fair opportunity to achieve 50% of their grade based on their individual merit, including homework, assignments, and projects. The value of the official quarter exams equals the remaining 50% of the student’s overall grade.

EST
§ EST stands for the Egyptian Scholastic Test.
§ In EST 1, students have 6 trials in grade 11 and 6 trials in grade 12.
§ In Grade 10, students take the test by the end of the year as practice; it does not count in their final scores.
§ EST 1 includes two subjects: English and Math.
§ EST score is out of 1600: 800 for English and 800 for Math
§ The public universities minimum score is 1050.
§ In EST1, students get 15% bonus if they score 1090 or higher.
§ In EST 2, students choose two or three subjects according to their targeted faculties.
§ The available subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math.
ACT
§ ACT stands for the American College Test.
§ In ACT 1, students have 6 trials in grade 11 and 6 trials in grade 12.
§ In Grade 10, students take the test by the end of the year as practice; it does not count in their final scores.
§ ACT 1 includes three subjects: English, Math, and Science.
§ The ACT score is out of 36.
§ The science score is not required for public universities.
§ In ACT 1, students get 15% bonus if they score 22 or higher.
§ In ACT 2, students choose two or three subjects according to their targeted faculties.
The available subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, and US history.

Final Academic Calculation for University entrance:
· 40% of total mark is based on the 8 subjects chosen from grade 11 & grade 12.
